In 2020, Revolution Software released Beyond a Steel Sky a surprise sequel to the classic 1994 dystopian adventure game Beneath a Steel Sky. The game was released via Steam as well as Apple Arcade. It featured classic style adventure gameplay but upgraded mechanics and graphical design.

The game enjoys a “Very Positive” rating on Steam and has been well received on Apple Arcade. Now, console gamers will get a chance to play this latest entry in the cyberpunk gaming pantheon. Revolution Software will be working with French publisher Microids to bring Beyond a Steel Sky to coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Playstation 4.

“Signing this publishing deal with the renowned Revolution Software studio delights us!” says Stéphane Longeard, Microids’ CEO. “We’re thrilled to give players the possibility to (re)discover the long-awaited sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky on consoles by diving into a captivating story supported by clever gameplay mechanics and gorgeous graphics.”

In Beyond a Steel Sky you return to Union City as Robert Foster, this time to find an abducted child and return them home. It’s a quirky, fun take on a future-dystopian thriller that should find plenty of renewed interest on consoles.

By the way, Beneath a Steel Sky is currently free on Steam if you’d like to try out the original experience before it hits consoles later this year.
