Inti Creates has announced the latest entry in the Azure Striker Gunvolt series called GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle. And in a bit of a departure from the series’ typical cyberpunk platforming, it will be a rhythm game. The game is in development now and targeting a February 2024 release date.

GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle will feature music from all five of the series’ past games and three of its idol-esque singers. Inti Creates is also working with Japanese electronic musician and DJ s-don on the rhythm aspects of the game. This is to ensure “the game’s rhythm gameplay is of the best possible quality.”

GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle is new rhythm music game starring the songstresses of the Azure Striker Gunvolt series, Lumen, Lola, and Luxia singing music from the series’s rich history. Players will time their button presses to a barrage of notes along two different lanes to earn high scores. The dual analog controls sync with the characters dancing in the 3D backgrounds for a fully immersive experience. GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle will release digitally for $14.99 USD, with DLC packs also available to expand the game’s track library.

Gameplay will take place within each of the pop songstresses music videos as well as notable scenes from the Gunvolt series history. The game will also feature a music player that allows you to listen to the complete tracks outside of the gameplay segments.

A rhythm game is a first for the cyberpunk platformer series but it isn’t that much of a shock. Music has always been a prominent part of the Gunvolt series and featured pop singers as important characters in each game’s story. GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle seems to take the series to a logical next step, though it is just a spinoff.

GUNVOLT RECORDS Cychronicle is currently slated to be released on February 15th, 2024. The game will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

What do you think of this latest Gunvolt game? Do you think the rhythm genre makes sense for this series or are you just looking forward to its next mainline platformer game?

A person who obviously loves cyberpunk stuff. He created Cyberpunk Chronicle to talk about all the cyberpunk stuff. He also loves old video games, old electronic music, and coffee. He really likes coffee a lot.
